Kryss

- See Kryss on YouTube!

Kryss began dancing at the age of 6, studying classical ballet at community centers, Walnut Hill Performing Arts School and Boston School of Ballet. A minor in Dance as a member of the Newcomb Dance Company, at Tulane Univeristy expanded her repertoire to Jazz and Modern dance styles.

Since 1993, Kryss has turned her focus towards ethnic/folkloric dance styles where musical expression and life experience are equally as important as technique.

Middle Eastern or Belly Dance, Flamenco, Mohini Attam and Dancemeditation have become integrated in her dancing and her life.

In performance, Kryss strives to allow the audience to experience her love of dance, and to create a space and time to escape from the every day routine.

In class, Kryss strives to impart upon her students the love of self and the joy of community that can be found in all styles of dance, as well as a strong foundation in techniques that make dance safe and enjoyable for the body. Kryss hopes that the information and physical connections her students make in class will spill over into the enrichment of their daily lives.

Dance Meditation is the most recent practice added to Kryss' repertoire and has been the avenue for the most growth. It is more a practice of being truly present with one's self and moving in Oneness of body and mind and is not based on strict technique. Dance Meditation is truly dancing from the heart and soul.
